About Dr. Shoemaker- Expert in Holistic & Integrative Veterinary Medicine
Dr. Judith M. Shoemaker is an internationally recognized veterinarian specializing in holistic veterinary care, integrative medicine, and complementary therapies for animals. A 1980 graduate of the University of Georgia College of Veterinary Medicine, Dr. Shoemaker has spent decades advancing the field of animal chiropractic, veterinary acupuncture, and alternative therapies for both equine and companion animals. She is licensed to practice veterinary medicine across most East Coast states, as well as in Colorado, Kentucky, Indiana, and Alabama.
Dr. Shoemaker’s practice focuses on comprehensive, whole-body wellness through chiropractic care, acupuncture, nutritional support, and other natural veterinary therapies. Her patients include elite competition horses—such as those in dressage, jumping, endurance, and western disciplines—as well as service dogs, agility competitors, and beloved family pets. Dr. Shoemaker is also deeply involved in the care of search and rescue dogs and other working animals requiring advanced physical support and maintenance therapy.
Throughout her career, Dr. Shoemaker has received numerous awards and honors, including Practitioner of the Year by the American Holistic Veterinary Medical Association (2011–2012) and induction into the inaugural class of the Animal Chiropractic Hall of Fame (2015). She is a charter member of the American Veterinary Chiropractic Association (AVCA) and a certified veterinary acupuncturist through the International Veterinary Acupuncture Society (IVAS). Her dedication to education and excellence has led her to teach advanced veterinary techniques across the U.S. and internationally through programs like the AAVA, AVCA, AHVMA, and Maximum Horse Power.
Dr. Shoemaker’s professional background also includes teaching anatomy at the University of Pennsylvania School of Veterinary Medicine and pursuing advanced training in orthopedic surgery, animal reproduction, and numerous complementary healing modalities. She is a respected speaker and thought leader in integrative veterinary care, frequently presenting at conferences and continuing education seminars around the world.
When she’s not treating patients or teaching, Dr. Shoemaker enjoys horse training, gardening, music, and personal growth through continued education and spiritual practice.
